From a sermon given on 21 July 2024:
And He has put in his heart the ability to teach, in him and Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker, in blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine linen, and of the weaver-those who do every work and those who design artistic works.
(Exodus 35:34-35, NKJV)
Our God is very creative. He made all that is seen with our naked eyes and all that cannot be seen. Lastly, he artistically created you and me. The creative God made you in his own image. You are his creature hence creative in nature. If all of us applied the creativity skill deposited in us by the creative God, we will have the best homes, best meals, the best churches, the best offices and the best of everything!
Bezalel and Aholiab were very gifted artisans who God had put wisdom and understanding in matters to do with all manner of work in the sanctuary. They were gifted / skilled in matters to do with the work of engraving, designing, tapestry, linen etc., God also put in their hearts the ability to teach others to become skilled workmen like them.
Our artistic creativity is a gift allowing us live as God intends. It is seeing the world not through how the world sees it but through the lens of our God. We can in cooperate creativity not only in the areas mentioned above, but also in every aspect of our lives; ministry, management of our day today engagements, handling the environment etc. Creativity will be a key tool in reaching the current generation. Let us spike up the artistic creativity in us in order to make the world a better place to live in.
