From a sermon given on 15 September 2024:

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
(Mark 5:36)

Jairus had just received the breaking news. "Your daughter is dead." Indeed the news must have been overwhelming enough to break the heart of any strong believer. How often have been bombarded by unpleasant news that cause to us despair?

Overhearing what they had said, Jesus told Jairus "Don't be afraid, just believe." He knew there was a possibility of panic. He knew that such information had the capacity to cause turmoil, desperateness and frustration.

Jesus has overheard the negative "breaking news" and He is whispering, "Don't be afraid, just believe." I like the song that says, "With Jesus in your life you Will smile....you will really smile....Smile away all fears." (Ann Mker) He is in control. When the enemy whispers, listen to the words of Jesus. They are final and his solutions are workable.

Further Readings:

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
(2 Corinthians 1:9)

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
(Romans 4:18)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
(Jeremiah 29:11)
