I have heard that baptism is a requirement for salvation. What does your church believe on this?
No where in the Bible does it ever say that baptism is a requirement for salvation. Baptism is a sign to the world as to what one believes when they accept Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and is NOT a requirement for salvation. If baptism were a requirement for salvation, then we would be saved by works and not by faith. The Bible clearly tells us that:
- For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8, 9
