From a sermon given on 17 March 2025:
And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
(Deuteronomy 28:13)
A new generation had arrived on the East bank of the Jordan river. This was approximately one month before they crossed over to the promised land. Those of the generation which had left Egypt were dead and their bones bleaching beneath the desert skies because of their unbelief and disobedience This was part of Moses final instructions before he relinquished leadership through death.( The Holy Bible Commentary)
And the Lord promised to make them the head and not the tail. They were going to be the lead nation; a nation that would be rated highly spiritual and economically* . They would lend to many nations and borrow from none (Deuteronomy 28:12) . They were going to be above and not beneath. This dream would only be actualized if they heeded to the commandments of the Lord and observed them.
If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; (Isaiah 1:19). What consumes your mind controls your life. If we heed to the commandments of the Lord and observe them, then he will make us the head and not the tail spiritually, socially and economically.
Further readings:
And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken.
(Deuteronomy 26:19}
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
(Joshua 1:5)
And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
(Malachi 3:12)
