From a sermon given on 26 October 2025:

I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.
(Job 42:5-6, NKJV)

Among men, closeness often cheapens honor, but with God, closeness deepens awe. Familiarity breeds contempt - with men. But with God, it breeds reverence

Abraham, though called God's friend, whispered, "I am but dust and ashes" (Genesis 18:27). John, who leaned on Jesus' breast, fell as dead before His glory (Revelation 1:17). The nearer the light, the sharper the shadows of our own frailty.

True acquaintance does not shrink God - it expands Him. It does not lessen wonder - it multiplies it. To know Him is to worship, to see Him is to tremble, and to walk with Him is to bow low in holy awe. Keep drawing near….Heavens greatness never breeds disdain only deeper devotion.

Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
(Jeremiah 9:23-24)

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.
