From a sermon given on 26 May 2024:
Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
(Geneses 18:11-12)
Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well - advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Genesis 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?"The word "damaged" come from the French word "dommage" meaning lose caused by injury. It is informally referred to a person who is considered to be no longer desirable or unfit to perform certain obligations. We all might have been wounded but by God's grace , we are useful in the kingdom.
Biologically speaking, Sarah was already damaged goods. She could not conceptualize how she could give birth at her age. As a matter of fact, she had already organized for a quick fix with her trusted maid Hagar. When the Lord announced that “at such a time like this next year” she will have a baby, it became "a laughing matter." But what is impossible with man is possible with God.
The hope of all damaged goods is found in God's one and only son Jesus. In Christ, we don't exist as damaged goods but as the righteousness of God (Biblical Counseling Coalition). What has happened to you is not what Makes You. What may have happened cannot keep you away from your destiny. You still have the seeds of greatness in you.

And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
(Genesis 18:10-14)
I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
