From a sermon given on 06 September 2026:
Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
(Proverbs 27:18)
Fig trees were valuable sources of food, but they did not produce fruit overnight. They required patient cultivation, protection, and consistent care. This agricultural picture teaches a deeper spiritual truth: faithfulness in our responsibilities brings reward. Just as a gardener enjoys the harvest from a tree he has diligently nurtured, those who faithfully serve God and fulfill their duties with integrity will ultimately receive honor and blessing.
God values consistency more than occasional enthusiasm. Many desire the fruit of success, promotion, spiritual growth, but few are willing to invest the daily effort required. Whether in ministry, family, work, or service to others, faithfulness is the pathway to fruitfulness. The rewards may not come immediately, but God sees every act of diligence and devotion. Let us commit ourselves to tending the "fig trees" God has entrusted to us. Instead of seeking quick results, let us serve faithfully where we are planted. When we care for our responsibilities with excellence and honor God through our service, we position ourselves to receive the fruit of our labor and the honor that comes from Him. Faithfulness today is the seed of tomorrow’s harvest.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
